Countryside Homes approached us to provide the water and waste water services at Oaklands Hamlet, a brownfield site. Less than 40 minutes from the City, Oaklands Hamlet offers views towards Canary Wharf in a countryside setting.
The site features a central square and 25 acres of public open space including a new country park and cycle path.
Challenge
Formerly occupied by an unplanned community incorporating various small-scale business interests, Oaklands was a challenging site to develop.
Countryside wanted our experience to establish regulated services that would meet or exceed their expectations.
Solution
We are working with Countryside Homes to lay the water mains and services to the development.
Each house is also connected to a green water supply which is sourced from highly treated recovered water.
This green water feeds the toilets and outside taps in each house and customers pay a reduced tariff for this water.
We inspect plumbing routinely in each house to prevent cross connections and incoming pipes are fitted with double check valves for extra security.
We also worked with Countryside to develop the waste water system and plan to construct a small sewage treatment works in a corner of the site
